Notes

There is not a great deal of information on the history of this company.  Thomas Sharpe established the pottery in 1821.  The company produced a wide variety of wares including yellow wares and Rockingham glazed wares.  By 1855 the company was producing sanitary wares including their patented flushing rim toilets.  The Sharpe Brothers exhibited at the 1851 London Exhibition and the listing for their displayed items included Derbyshire ironstone caneware, Rockingham ware of native clay and printed earthenware of the clay in a refined state.
