Richard Edwards was the son of James Edwards and was the "Son" in James Edwards & Son. He began his partnership with his father, James, in 1851 and continued the business after his father retired in 1861. He registered a shape known as Twisted Ribbon in August of 1862. All ironstone made after James' retirement is marked James Edwards & Son.
