Commemorative Figure
Notes
These figurines were originally modeled by Sampson Smith around 1868 to celebrate the establishment of the first International Order of the Good Templars branch in Birmingham, England. The I.O.G.T. was unique among 19th-century fraternal organizations because it admitted men and women equally, which is why the figurine features both male and female members. The group depicts three figures gathered around a small table. The table typically features an open book and the initials "I.O.G.T.".
