William Young and Sons operated at the Excelsior Pottery Works from 1860-1879. In 1870 William Young Sr. retired and the business was carried on by his sons. From 1870 until 1879 the pottery was known as William Young's Sons but because there was no change to the marks, the location, and family ownership, we will identify William Young & Sons and William Young's Sons as simply William Young & Sons. In February 1879 the Excelsior Pottery Works was sold to the Willets Brothers.
