Brothers Charles (age 21) and Alfred (age 17) began manufacturing at the Trent Pottery, Burslem, in 1865. Their partnership ended around 1873 when Alfred set up his own company, Alfred Meakin, in Tunstall and Charles continued production in his own name at the Trent Pottery.
