This platter is called a "Hold-Fast Carving Dish" as indicated on the mark.  There would have been a metal wire loop that attached to each set of holes on either side of the platter to hold the meat in place while carving.  This was probably manufactured between 1906 and 1912 when Grimwade Ltd. introduced a line of utility ware.
