This mark was first used in 1875 when the City Pottery Co. was incorporated.  Prior to 1875 the same British Coat of Arms mark was used with the initials Y. B. A. (Yates, Bennett & Allen) in the place of C. P. Co.  In 1876, they began using a shield mark and in 1877, the New Jersey Coat of Arms.
